About This Project
New-build gardens often come handed over as a bare slope with a strip of patchy turf, and this one was no different. The ground fell away towards the back fence, so there was nowhere flat to sit and the boundary was open on every side.
We put in a gabion wall along the back to take the slope and give the garden a clean line to work to. Then we built a raised timber deck off the level by the house, angled into the corner so it follows the shape of the plot rather than fighting it. It gives them a dry, level spot for a table and chairs without having to dig the whole garden out.
We finished the boundary with new featheredge fencing and a slatted screen for a bit of privacy, topped up the gravel behind the wall and left them with fresh turf. Low maintenance, and it actually gets used now.
